New Name for Suncream’s Diabetic Ice Cream
Suncream Dairies’ long established and popular Diabetic ice cream has been relaunched with a new name – Lower Sugar Vanilla Ice Cream.
Fat free and containing less than 120 calories per 100g, it is ideal for anyone following a lower sugar and zero fat diet as it delivers all the taste and texture of regular ice cream but significantly fewer calories. Containing almost 60% lower sugar than Suncream’s ‘Summertime’ ice cream, it is also soya, egg, sucrose and gluten free, and manufactured in a nut free factory.
“Lower Sugar ice cream is the perfect choice for caterers in care homes and hospitals where dietary considerations are particularly important,” comments Rebecca Manfredi, Suncream’s managing director. “However it’s also a great accompaniment to hot puddings and fruit for anyone counting the calories, and makes a great healthy milkshake.”
The change of name comes in the wake of new legislation, effective from July 2016, which forbids manufacturers making any reference to food being suitable for people with diabetes. Products bearing the old labelling can continue to be sold, provided they were manufactured before July.
“Caterers can be reassured that this is an identical product to our popular Diabetic ice cream – it’s just the name that’s changed!” adds Rebecca.
Suncream’s Lower Sugar Vanilla Ice Cream, which is also suitable for vegetarians, is available in convenient 2 litre tubs with resealable lids.Back to latest news
